ShopWiki - Wireless routers

Author: scattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Computer and Internet

Does the ever-so-slow connection to the network get on your nerve! Put you on a short fuse! Well, you’re not alone. I get a slow burn, perplex me too - as well as a horde of internet users the world over.

Enter the wireless router - touted as the next best thing to shoving a gun at your web service provider’s head. Before anything else, I’m neither a teachie nor computer savvy and anything technical gives me the heebie jeebies, so all those those technical gobbledy-gooks are thrown out the window. On this page at least.

So, where are we? Ah yes, the wireless router! The pitch is that the wireless router provides 2 distinct advantages, namely Speed and Range. Let’s touch on those briefly:

  • If super high speed web browsing is your cup of tea, the wireless router will speed up your connection “substantially” and, hear this, even with inexpensive gear.
  • More versatility and longer range - You’ll be able to access your important data from anywhere outside your home.
  • If you are into gaming or high bandwidth applications such as watching movies or audio play-up from the internet, or, play files from your computer on other media devices such as TV or stereo, a router connection is best.
  • Take your wireless capabilities wherever you go with your laptop - although you may want your PC card to have an extending antenna. Also, some hot spots require an additional fee for connecting. Actual range varies depending on where you use the router. Understand too that walls, pipes and other electronic devices can interfere with your router - so, select one that operates at a much higher frequency for a greatly reduced chance of interference.
  • Securing your network - Your router has built-in security features to protect your files/network from unwanted intruders. It won’t hurt to add a NAT firewall to conceal your computer behind the router.

ShopWiki has made it easy and practically stress-free to shop the wireless router that you need. Through online shopping, ShopWiki is the By-Word when it comes to researching every routers for sale on the internet. Which translates into better deals and values for users/consumers like you.

Don’t take chance! Visit http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Wireless+routers to guide you through the maze of wireless router shopping. You’ll thank your lucky star you did!

Endurance Athletes

Author: scattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Self Improvement, Sports and Fitness

Endurance training and racing requires quite a commitment from athletes … the commitment is for time and money … they put up with pain, they eat for the event and buy supplements that cost a bundle … their equipment is specialized to their events (shoes, high performance clothing, bikes, skis, wet suit, heart monitor, exercise equipment, etc., etc.) Some of the athletes are in the professional ranks, but most are age-groupers. Why do the age-groupers do it?

Accor Hotels City Super Sale

Author: scattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Personal

Bitten by the travel bug? Well, take a look at that sun-kissed country of 7,100 islands at the crossroads of the Asia-Pacific region - the Philippines. Home to 80 million of the friendliest people on earth where smile is a given on everyone’s face, where Fiestas or festivals found its roots - for it seems that not a day pass without a fiesta or festival of some kind is being celebrated in one of the the country’s cities, towns or barrios.

A diverse, exciting holiday await travelers to the Philippines. From world class, fine-sand beaches of Boracay and El Nido, to dive sites with mind-boggling  variety of corals and awesome marine life such as those found in Tubattaha Reef. Where else can you find such world famous wonders of nature such as the Chocolate Hills of Bohol - home to the rare and endemic Tarsiers marsupials, the volcano within a volcano that is Taal, the awe-inispiring St. John’s Subterranean River that stretches inside a mountain for 25 kilometers and can actually be navigated by boat for 8 kms. Who wouldn’t be mesmerized at the sight of the 8th wonder of the world - the Banaue Rice Terraces that when put end to end would circumnavigate halfway around the world.

Ahh, wonders all which will tempt you to come back to Philippine shores again and again!

Manila is the epi-center of all activites in the Philippines - social, cultural, economic and political. Manila is where you should start your visit to the Philippines. And when in Manila experience any of Accor Hotels for superior service and accomodations. One perfect example is Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila - your home away from home.

Take a cue from a local who would plan a sojourn in the city similar to the following:

Day 1

  • First in your itinerary is a visit to Rizal Park, the biggest and most popular park in the Philippines where Jose Rizal, the national hero was executed which sparked the revolution against Spain.
  • Take a calesa, the Philippine version of horse-drawn carriage, to Fort Santiago - the walled city in Intramuros where you can relive history during the colonization of the Philippines by Spain that lasted for 2 centuries. View artifacts, historical documents including a diorama of the country’s epic struggle for independence.
  • Hop on the ubiquitous Philippine jeepney - the one-of-a-kind transportation found nowhere else and tour China Town, its quaint portals and gawked at the locals in traditional dresses.
  • And who would want to miss the awe-inspiring splendor of Manila Bay Sunset at Roxas Boulevard or from your private balcony at Sofitel Philippine Plaza
  • Dinner by the Bay at one of Manila’s fabulous restaurants. Well, you really don’t have to go far. Right at Sofitel is its flagship dining spot, the Spiral - for that dining experience in the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

Day 2

  • Take the harbour cruise for a whole day tour to Corregidor -  the bastion of the Filipino and American forces gallant stand in the defense of the Philippines against the Japanese during World War II;  the Malinta Tunnel where the Philippine-American troops holed up, the Battery Station where cannons stand in silent reminder of the fight against overwhelming odds.
  • Back to Sofitel for a night’s relaxation and fun. Watch the nightly cultural shows at Sunset Bar or join in the revelry at Siete (7) Pecados featuring live bands.

Day 3

  • Start the day with a morning swim at the Lagoon swimming pool set amidst a 12 acre tropical garden or try aqua golf, mini golf, tennis even jogging - yes, there are jogging trails for the fitness buffs.
  • Now you’re all set for shopping at the Mall of Asia - the biggest in Asia where souveiner or bargain hunters can have a field day. And if avant-garde fashion is your thing, or somewhere in between, the mall offers whatever is the size of your pocket.
  • Wrap up the day with a cultural show, ballet or a night at the opera at the Cultural Center or the spectacular acrobatic show Wander at the PAGCOR Grand Theater.

Let Super City Sale be your partner in experiencing all these wonderful times in Manila. But as is always the case, good things don’t last forever. You can live it up at Accor Hotels City Super Sale at super sale prices for a limited time, unfortunately!

Car Service JFK

Author: scattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Travel and Leisure

New York City is still the top tourist draw and convention center in USA, even the world - the loss of the World Trade Center not withstanding. Where modernity, luxury and grand lifestyle are taken to the extreme. Expressed in its awesome monolithic skyscrapers, leading high-fashion, sybaritic hotels that offer the last word in luxury accommodations. Where else can you find a dazzling show of exotic dream cars littering the streets like a dime a dozen. Where the rich and famous and fabulous women soak in the sights and sounds of the operas, ballets or spend a fortune in one-of-a-kind piece of art, DIAMOND ring, or, fine dining in classy restaurants where the masterpieces of chefs of France, Italy, the Middle East and Asia are sumptuously offered.

But NYC is not just for the haves and those who have made it big. NYC has much to offer us lesser mortals too! Long lines form at the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Broadway Shows and of course the star attraction nowadays - Ground Zero. Tourists gravitate to NYC’s famous parks and zoos, museums and art galleries too. Add to these the spectacular parades topped by Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Irish and other ethnic day celebrations. And its guaranteed that you’ll have one heck of a grand time joining the celebrated New Year’s Eve countdown at Times Square - nothing beats that!

Whether you’re visiting the Big Apple for business or pleasure, your means of getting around is well provided. I mean that literally! Go Airlink NYC, one of the city’s better known operators of ground transportation, tour and sightseeing services in the Tri-State area, makes sure your travel needs are satisfied.

Go Airlink NYC has the wherewithal to fully serve your transportation needs, including:

* Offers car service jfk or throughout Westchester, Connecticut, La Guardia and Newark airports - to/from Manhattan Hotels, home or office and NYC cruise terminals.

* Gives you a wide choice of: door-to-door share-a-ride van, private luxury van, standard or VIP sedan, standard or VIP SUV, Mini-Bus, Motor Coach, or Double Decker Bus.

* For group travellers, group services include private transfers, bus charters, group packages, meetings and conventions.

* Convenient on line reservation 24/7 or manned telephone reservation from 6 AM to 12 AM

Again, the choice is yours! Sky is the limit for the deep pockets, or go on a budget. Either way you’ll get commendable sure-fire service every step of the way.

Rates of course vary from one car service provider to another. Visit http://www.goairlink NYC.com for more details or to comparison shop for the best deal.

Go Airlink NYC should be at the top of your list. You deserve the BEST..

New York City Sightseeing

Author: scattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Travel and Leisure

New York City - the Big Apple by the Hudson River immortalized in Frank Sinatra’s ditty as “King of the Hill”, “Top of the Heap”. New York City doesn’t take a backseat to any other city in America, even the world.

New York City is the epi-center of almost everything fabulous that touches our lives: towering architectural masterpieces, avant-garde fashion, the finest diamonds and jewelries money can buy, the height of excellence in music and arts, epicurean culinary concoctions by the who’s who chefs of the world, ritzy hotels that vie with one another in the ostentatious pampering of the rich and famous and of course those whom money is no object. The list goes on and on…

NYC is the sightseeing capital of the world - its allure not diminished by the loss of the World Trade Center. I say that perhaps with tongue-in-cheeck, but hey, where else can you find such example of effervescence of an accolade to a city and country as the Statue of Liberty, such magnificent landmarks as the Empire State Building, the awesome Brooklyn Bridge, the Grand Central Terminal, Battery Park, even the New York Stock Exhange. And no one should leave NYC without taking that royalty-feeling carriage ride through Central Park. How about a visit to NYC’s great museums, art galleries, operas and scintillating broadway shows. Or, experience the thrill of a lifetime with a riotous celebration of the countdown to New Year at Times Square.

And of course who would want to miss “Ground Zero” - the hallowed ground that has become the star draw of New York City Sightseeing attractions.

Speaking of New York City Sightseeing, you’ll get the best bang for the buck from engaging the services of City Sights NY. Look at what City Sights NY have to offer:

* Double Decker Buses designed for top deck only seating for that ringside view of NYC’s daytime lures and the night’s seduction when the Manhattan skyline is bathed in million lights. You can hop on, hop off these double deckers - perfect for those on the go, the adventurous and those on a budget.
* What’s a trip to NYC without shopping? City Sights NY offfers day shopping trips from pricey boutiques to the more reasonably priced shops and something in between - whichever you want.
* Museum tours, harbor cruises, helicopter tours, even a whole day escorted motorcoach tours to Washington DC, Boston, or a different intriguing tour to Amish Country, are at your beck and call.

Whatever your heart desires is the limit in touring services as far as City Sights NY is concerned.

Make your New York City Sightseeing more exciting and memorable than you’d expect. Let City Sights NY be your partner in crime in stealing the best time of your life in NYC.

Updates!

Author: User Imagescattered brain (Who am I?)  //  Category: Personal

Hi guys! I’ve been off the internet scene for quite sometime. The truth of the matter is that since December it had been a complete computer shutdown mode for me. No blogs. No socializing on the net. Not even one e-mail sent.

Why?  For a number of reasons…

Firstly, my fiance came over last New Year’s eve from UK.  After 11 months of not seeing each other, well, you know what that meant…ha! ha! ha! Hey, it’s not what you think. Naturally we had a lot of catching up to do - mostly updating one another on our goings-on, inter-personal affairs, attending to visa requirements vis-a-vis our plan to live together in UK and of course, bonding with my 2 kiddos. Those sort of things…

Secondly, since blog offers were coming in trickles and in fact have dried up, I started joining the employment lines. Perseverance paid off! I was hired as Asst. Merchandise Manager in February in a trading company specializing on women’s accessories..  Which keeps me on my toes well beyond the regular 9 to 5 working grind. Frankly its that kind of “over-worked and under-paid” situation. Which make me rethink my options.

Another reason was that my oldest son Sid Vincent, who is in second  grade, was getting behind in school. Not his fault though. The drawback was that he didn’t had the opportunity to get exposed to the basics of learning. I wasn’t able to get him to nursery and kindergarten school for lack of financial resources.  I had to find the time to sit down and guide him through the required academics. Which even necessitated getting tutorial help.

That I have been busy, that things have been tough, is an understatement… Not that I’m complaining…

Well, my fiance is back in UK. School is over. So, here I am - backon the net time permitting…
