Hi guys! I’ve been off the internet scene for quite sometime. The truth of the matter is that since December it had been a complete computer shutdown mode for me. No blogs. No socializing on the net. Not even one e-mail sent.
Why? For a number of reasons…
Firstly, my fiance came over last New Year’s eve from UK. After 11 months of not seeing each other, well, you know what that meant…ha! ha! ha! Hey, it’s not what you think. Naturally we had a lot of catching up to do - mostly updating one another on our goings-on, inter-personal affairs, attending to visa requirements vis-a-vis our plan to live together in UK and of course, bonding with my 2 kiddos. Those sort of things…
Secondly, since blog offers were coming in trickles and in fact have dried up, I started joining the employment lines. Perseverance paid off! I was hired as Asst. Merchandise Manager in February in a trading company specializing on women’s accessories.. Which keeps me on my toes well beyond the regular 9 to 5 working grind. Frankly its that kind of “over-worked and under-paid” situation. Which make me rethink my options.
Another reason was that my oldest son Sid Vincent, who is in second grade, was getting behind in school. Not his fault though. The drawback was that he didn’t had the opportunity to get exposed to the basics of learning. I wasn’t able to get him to nursery and kindergarten school for lack of financial resources. I had to find the time to sit down and guide him through the required academics. Which even necessitated getting tutorial help.
That I have been busy, that things have been tough, is an understatement… Not that I’m complaining…
Well, my fiance is back in UK. School is over. So, here I am - backon the net time permitting…
The Harry and Paul comedy show owned by British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) came under fire from the Filipino community recently over a scene depicting a Filipina maid as a lap dancing sex tease. In the comedy show Harry Enfield orders a Filipina housemaid to dance lewdly to arouse Paul Whitehouse. How’s that again!!!
The comedy skit was shown last Sept 26th which generated outburst among Filipino workers and a diplomatic brouhaha in the UK and in the Philippines. No less than a member of Congress of the Philippines called it an outrage and insult to the Filipino people.
“Sorry the BBC is not under our control”, British Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Beckingham lamely dismissed the incident. What a bummer! Tell that to the marines!
This video posted by PNBKapamilya “Harry & Paul” (BBC) insults Filipino domestic helpers - no ifs, ands or buts about it!
Racism and humiliation happen all over the world.. Not only by British to Filipinos… or British to Americans… Americans to Filipinos.. etc! Is there a racist born every minute! Not in this day and age when people of every race, color or creed are supposed to be well informed and properly educated and should have learned its lesson from the horrors of Nazism, the Ku Klux Klan and other kinds of racism. Plain and simple, nobody has the right to insult anybody! Of course if someone wants to be a jerk, there is no stopping him/her. The type that smacks of gutter upbringing and lack of self esteem and honor - which explain the utter disregard even the total absence of moral values in such a person. How can one justify such insensitivity and disrespect which denigrates the mores, culture and dignity of women, cause disharmony and breeds hatred and discord among peoples of the world.
All forms of racism should be condemned. Racism has no place in today’s societies. In the same manner that “gutter humor” ostensibly disguised as a joke but inexorably depict women of different ethnicity in a bad light has no moral justification may used as an excuse for the faux pas.
Is it an insult or a plain British type of humor as BBC wants us to believe? What ya’ll think?
Yep! I was greeted @ Manxradio.com. My fiance surprised me this morning.. My fiance and I was talking while we were both listening to his fav FM station in Manxradio.com. I got a package from UK VAC via 2go last friday. It was my passport and other docs that I’ve submitted to them. I was very disappointed and depressed after reading the letter of refusal. Unfortunately, my visa was refused for the following grounds according to Entry Clearance Officer:
No evidence has been submitted as to arrangements for your children’s welfare or their financial support during your proposed visit.
No evidence has been produced by sponsor to suggest that his landlord has consented to you living at his address.
The income you receive as a freelance internet blogger would still be available if you were not living here in there (Phil) and that leads me (ECO) to doubt whether you would leave the Isle of Man after the period stated.
Overall, the Entry Clearance Officer was not satisfied with all the evidence that I’ve submitted to them and he’s doubting me if I am genuine visitor and if I intend to leave the UK after the period stated.
It seems to me the Isle of Man “Entry Clearance Officer” who denied my entry clearance made a “HASTY decision – in the name of expediency”.
The reasons he cited look “FLIMSY” to me. And doesn’t “WASH”.

Fiance and I checked the status of our application this morning. After 8 days from the date of his interview, finally the new status says “Processed application returned to courier 24 Jul 2008″.
Now we have to wait for my passport to be returned, hopefully today or tomorrow with my visa, so we will be together on my birthday. But we will not get too excited yet till we know it is in place.
Read my previous post about visa application. Thanks! Enjoy reading..
Thursday, 1st of May 2008 - I completed my application and booked my appointment online.
You must take your printed application, supporting documents and the appropriate fee to the UK VAC MANILA office on the agreed date and time of your appointment. Your application will not be accepted at any other location. Failure to submit documents to the UK VAC MANILA office will result in a delay and/or lead to the refusal of your application.
Tuesday, 3rd of June 2008 - After we sorted out all the supporting docs and paid visa fee in peso by BDO Manager’s check I personally lodged our application in Manila UK VAC office.
My fiance got sorted out the interview requirement for our sponsored visit visa application. As I mentioned in my previous post that he received a call from their immigration office for an interview.. He said the interview went ok.. and we’ll just wait for another 2 weeks for the result. So we’re still hanging here.. We’ll just hope and pray for the best! Come what may…
To those who are following our application - I’ll keep you posted with the result ASAP!

I feel good today .. A lot better than yesterday… I was talking with sweetiepie; he told me that he got a phone call from their immigration earlier (4:30PM - UK time). The officer told him that they had received an application from Manila and there are a couple of queries that they need to sort out. He is scheduled for an interview and instructed to bring all the original docs copies that he sent to me. We really hope that this is going to be great news for both of us.. So stay tuned and wait for the result.. but once again.. whatever the result is.. we’re both ready.. Good luck for us!
