happy anniversary! anniversary couple happy love rose you

It’s our 2nd year anniversary today… and it was my birthday last week.. It’s been a great weekend for me. He sent me a bouquet of fresh flowers and birthday card.

It was Aug. 2006 when I first met my sweetie thru online dating service. Since then we’ve been in constant communication until we became boyfriend and girlfriend.. He came to visit after few months (Jan. 2007) and stayed for 3 weeks then he came back again at the same year and stayed for 3 months (Nov. 2007-Jan 2008). Our relationship has become more serious each day and I feel very strongly for him.

Being in a long distance relationship isn’t easy. It requires very strong trust, commitment and communication. Sometimes, I want to give up. But I’m trying my best to work it out coz from the beginning of our relationship, I know what I want already… and that is to marry this person and to be with him forever…

We planned to get married in Gambia, West Africa next year… but I’m still waiting for my annulment. Hopefully we’ll get it done by next year.. But you know how hard it is here in our country, processing is too slow.. You can never tell how long you’ll gonna wait for the result.

I’m so blessed and thankful for having a man like him.. He is very patient and caring.. In spite of everything he tries to understand me and he is always there for me… so he’s always on his toes trying to help me get through the bad times.

Well, I was supposed to visit him in IOM this year but things went wrong.. In my previous post, I said that I applied for a tourist visa but unfortunately it didn’t work out coz of some.. “FLIMSY reasons”… so my fiancé is coming to visit pretty soon… Weeeeeeh!!! We’ll gonna be together again… I’m super excited already.. I miss him so dearly and I’m so deeply in love with him!

Long Distance Relationship

Indeed, long distance relationship is a very tough situation. Especially if you want affection but you’re both far away from each other. Being in this situation, I find it difficult. It requires a strong commitment between you and your partner.

In order to have a successful long distance relationship there should be TRUST.

The key to making long-distance relationships work is to talk honestly and openly about how you feel.

Staying in touch regularly is the key to surviving a long-distance relationship.

  • Use a variety of ways of communicating - email, telephone, text message, letter, etc.
  • Send little gifts - to show how often you think of each other.
  • Make some surprise calls - make the odd call just to say “I love you.”
  • Send regular pictures - this will help your partner keep a visual record of what you’re up to.
  • Keep a diary - then share it with your partner each time you meet.
